Book ReviewWhen you hear the term ‘Health Care’ what is your initial thought? Do you think about HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, etc? When is the last time you thought about ‘Infertility’? I cannot praise and commend Dr. Tresmaine Grimes enough for putting aside her many levels of success and accomplishment to become transparent in order to help others. I have known Tresmaine and her husband Clarence for some time now. If there is a couple who deserve the opportunity to experience the beauty of child birth it is them. Yet with dignity and spiritual character they have embraced the Will of God for their lives and turned what appeared to be lemons into the most refreshing pitcher of lemonade through adopting two wonderful children.
Sarah’s Daughters is a must read for Men and Women regardless of your marital status. The subject of infertility is often discussed in the realm of fertility treatments but little is shared regarding the emotional, mental, social and spiritual impact couples must live with daily. Tresmaine through her book Sarah’s Daughters not only shares her personal journey but shares a prescription to resolve and deal with the pain of stigmas and guilt both men and women feel. Men, I appeal to you especially to read this book because it is easy to make infertility a one- sided issue, when many men, as Dr. Grimes skillfully points out suffer in silence. The biblical references are therapeutic as we see how men and women in those times dealt with the same issues we deal with today. There is much to digest when it comes to the subject of infertility, but Dr. Grimes nails it on many untapped levels regarding the variety of decisions and choices a couple must make. Maybe this book, Sarah’s Daughters is for you or someone you know, or how about someone you will know in the future. This book is an enjoyable, informational and necessary read to enhance the quality of community life. Dr. Grimes spiritual and professional persona has addressed an issue that justifies keeping Health Care at the forefront of our society's priorities. I really enjoyed this book; I promise, you will too. Rev. Reginald L. Hudson, Senior Pastor Union Baptist Church New Rochelle, New York |
TestimonialI had planned to take my time reading Dr. Grimes’ book; surely a book dealing with infertility would not truly engage me because I have children. Oh, was I wrong. Once I opened the book, I could not put it down until I finished. It was like sitting having a cup of coffee with a close friend while discussing some very deep issues. Grimes addresses the “unfruitful areas” of a person’s life almost as much as she addresses female infertility --- and how to handle the former and the latter. The Biblical character Michal, David’s wife, faced both situations. Grimes painted a picture of Michal that I had never considered before, it was transforming. The Michal exposé and the other parts of Sarah’s Daughters are master tools that will help anyone remove personal roadblocks and progress into God’s vision. Job well done!

This book, “Sarah’s Daughters” should be on the bookshelves of every woman, wife, mother and pastor! After reading this book I am better equipped to minister from a biblical perspective to women who are experiencing infertility. TestimonialDr. Tresmaine Grimes shares her heart while allowing God to use her personal testimony to bless others. Although I am not a parent, I found myself using this book as a tool because many of the topics spoke to my own life in terms of being fruitful by walking in God’s plan for my life. Sarah’s Daughters is a wonderfully written book with biblical principles that will bless anyone who reads it.
